Villa Saletta has been at the heart of Tuscan winemaking for more than 1,000 years. The Hands family purchased the estate around 20 years ago, completely rebuilding and renovating the lands and the local borgo into today’s agriculturally diverse estate that builds on the heritage and traditions. This wine, Super-Tuscan in style, shows summer pudding fruits with tobacco, leather and mint notes. Dry, but quite sweet-fruited, the palate flavours are framed by tangy acidity, velvet tannins and warming alcohol. Very spicy, the flavours are well-defined and nicely integrated. Richly flavoured and savoury, this wine is a good match for bucatini alla puttanesca. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
