Tasting notes:
The original Sandridge Barton vineyard was planted by Maurice and Ruth Ash, whose nephew Mark Sharman and Sharpham’s head winemaker Duncan Schwab went on to craft sensational wines from this estate vineyard, a legacy that continues under Duncan and the team today. This gorgeous rosé has a pale vieux rose colour and tiny bubbles, with cranberry and strawberry fruit accented by creamy, almost vanilla essence, autolysis and crushed yellow roses. Brut-style, the light bodied palate displays crisp acidity with a hint of astringency giving added structure. Nicely defined, the wine will be a good match for salmon, poached with dill, lemon and white wine, served with spiralled cucumber and a frothy basil cream. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
