Tasting notes:
Fourth generation growers Fabio and Celita Ravaioli tend vines in the rolling hills of the Bidente Valley at around 170m, facing west on clay-loam soils – perfect terroir for cultivating Sangiovese grapes. This wine, a Sangiovese Superiore Riserva, displays a deepish ruby colour with a cherry-hued rim and crushed red berries, accented by vanilla oak, gentle butter and a meringue-like lift. Dry, the mid-weight palate has lively acidity and svelte tannins framing the flavours. With good flavour intensity and a lightly perfumed finish, this wine will be a good foil for tagliolini al tartufo. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
