Tasting notes:

Albola’s signature vineyard, Il Solatìo, is vertiginous – steeply sloping hillsides at 550m–600m on stony soils. A sensational example of fine-quality Chianti, the wine has a deep ruby colour and has intense morello cherry fruit, accented by dark chocolate, smoky wood and a hint of sweet balsamic. The palate is full but elegant, framed by racy, citrussy acidity and grippy tannins to balance the warming alcohol and dense finish. Youthful, but could match veal shanks roasted with vegetables in a spicy dark chocolate sauce now.  (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
