Tasting notes:
The Montalcino vineyards in the rolling hills of the estate have a low to moderate slope. The soils developed from different types of sediments: clay sands of the marine Pliocene, deep soils with abundant calcareous stones and grey-blue, moderately deep mineral soils that retain humidity. This wine is an excellent expression of Brunello. With a mid-ruby colour, the wine has cranberry, pomegranate and dried red cherry fruit, with cedar and orange zest accents. The palate is medium-bodied, with crunchy fruit supported by lively acidity and linen-textured tannins. Refined, the wine has added interest from a limestone note and a sappy finish. A good pairing is roasted quail with juniper berry-red wine sauce. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
