Tasting notes:
The Castello Radda vineyards are in the middle hills of Radda-in-Chianti at 350m–450m, overlooking the village itself. They have south-east and southwest exposure, and soils comprising calcareous clay, rich in stones and poor in organic matter, perfect for vine growing. This wine comes from the Il Corno vineyard at 400m altitude. Deep ruby-garnet in hue, the wine displays red cherry, pomegranate and cranberry, with vanilla and cigar box accents. The sweet-fruited palate is framed by brisk acidity, linen-textured tannins and warming alcohol. Showing excellent varietal definition and nice integration, the coconut note on the finish suggests pairing with seared pigeon breasts with figs and pomegranate sauce. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
