Tasting notes:
Desiderius Pongrácz was a Hungarian nobleman, who settled in Namibia after his repatriation at the end of the Second World War. In 1958 he relocated to South Africa, where he earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Stellenbosch. Pale lemon-green in colour with small, persistent bubbles, the wine exhibits green apple and white peach, with aromatic white floral, mineral and croissant accents. Brut, the palate is light bodied and linear in style, with racy acidity and brittle mousse texture framing the flavours. Well-defined and with a lingering, savoury finish, the wine will work beautifully as an aperitif or with freshly steamed clams. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
