Tasting notes:
The Pizzini family originated in the Trentino in northern Italy, so it is no surprise that the second generation, Alfredo and Katrina Pizzini, established Italian varieties in their Australian vineyard, planted in the late 1970s. Now concentrating on these Italian grapes, the first release of Pinot Grigio was in the early 2000s. This wine, very pale lemon-coloured, has juicy yellow plum and golden apple fruit. Dry, yet rich and creamy, the palate has good intensity and crisp acidity, with a spicy, lingering finish. A superb wine to pair with twice baked gruyère cheese soufflé in a tarragon cream sauce.
