Tasting notes:

Viña Carmen was established in Maipo in 1850 and has been producing wine ever since. Carmen Gold comes from a 3.47ha site at 586m altitude in Alto Jahuel, the high sector of Maipo, planted in 1957. Very deep purple ruby in colour, the wine shows bramble, blackberry and dark cherry fruit, with elements of cedar wood, smoke and coffee. The medium-bodied palate has fresh acidity and grippy tannins to support the flavours, and displays good definition and length. An excellent wine to serve with spicy pork chops and grilled vegetables. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
