Stonestreet was founded in 1995 by Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke, and today 170 micro-vineyards on the Stonestreet Mountain Estate of the eastern highlands of Alexander Valley are managed by Christopher and Ariel Jackson. This impressive wine, very deep purple in colour, displays ripe cassis fruit with tobacco and cedar wood overtones. Sweet-fruited, the palate is well integrated, with very good concentration framed by crisp acidity and silky tannins. Lingering and expressive, the wine will make a good match for venison carpaccio with truffle vinaigrette and preserved chestnuts. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
