Tasting notes:
Freemark Abbey was founded in 1886 as the 16th bonded winery in Napa Valley and its beautiful stone winery was built in 1899. This wine exemplifies both the traditions and modernity of this world-renowned producer. Very deep purple-hued, the wine shows intense blackberry and Victoria plums with plenty of smoky oak. Rich and ripe, the palate flavours are framed by good freshness and linen textured tannins, with impeccable definition and good length. The black pepper nuance and overt oak suggest a match with sirloin steak, barbecued rare. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
