‘Great Wines from Good Guys’ is the strapline for Three Thieves. The ‘good guys’ are ‘liberators of fine wine’ Charles Bieler (The Hustler), Joel Gott (The Master) and Roger Scommegna (The Dreamer) – wine entrepreneurs and adventurers who joined together to create this label nearly two decades ago. This wine, a blend of 65% Lodi, 31% Coastal and 4% California fruit, has a deep cherry colour, red and black summer pudding fruits with tobacco, milk chocolate, lemon zest and orange accents. The approachable, mid-weight palate is structured by very crisp acidity and velvet tannins, leading to a sappy finish. A really good example to pair with steak tartare in the French style.
