This wonderful Cabernet-dominant blend highlights why Bolgheri has become a bastion of fine wines to rival Bordeaux. There’s this lovely liveliness to the wine, despite its power, with fleshy, even slightly stewed red and dark fruit at its core, then some creamy coconut too, followed by toast and dried herbs, such as thyme. After all this come ripe but dry, mouth-coating tannins, even a touch of sour cherry, making it hard to slow the rate at which one wants to drink this lip smacking red. (Patrick Schmitt MW)
