Tasting notes:

Viña Montes, with its signature winged angel, is at the very top of the Chilean tree with this lovely example. Deep purple-ruby in colour, the wine has dense, smoky meat aromatics and ripe blackberry fruit as its backdrop. The bold, vibrant, cassis-dominated palate has lively acidity and dense, silky textured tannins, as well as excellent intensity and a long finish. Complexity, too, with a hint of peppermint, which suggests pairing with rosemary infused lamb chops and Jalapeño mint jelly. The sweetness in the jelly balances the tannins in the wine.
