Tasting notes:
Purchased by Edmond De Rothschild in 1973 to fulfill his dream of owning a discreet, intimate vineyard, Château Clarke was completely replanted and remodelled to become the top Listrac-Médoc Cru Bourgeois it is today, with winemaking by Fabrice Darmaillacq. This expression has a deep ruby core, with garnet on the rim showing a little development, and exhibits Victoria plums and blackcurrant, with undertones of vanilla oak and crushed violets. Dry, quite full and rich, the palate is well-balanced by lively acidity and silky tannins. Nicely integrated, with plenty of length, the wine is intense and intriguing, with layers of flavour and texture. A good pairing for lamb shank with red and yellow sweet peppers, rosemary and mint.
