Tasting notes:
Valdo’s story is the history of the Bolla family, beginning with taverna owner Abele’s vision to produce still wine more than a century ago. In 1926, Abele and his friends ventured into the nearby caldera of Valdobbiadene to produce traditional Prosecco wines. The success continues, with Valdo’s sparkling ranges becoming global brands since 1990. This wine is a delicious example, reflecting its name, ‘love of the soil’. Pale lemon-yellow in colour with small bubbles, the wine has yellow fruit, crushed rose petals and a hint of chalk. Brut-style, the palate is light-bodied with brisk acidity and a silky mousse. Good concentration and length in an easy-drinking style. A delightful aperitif, or for pairing with Asian dumplings. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
