Tasting notes:
Cono Sur, a subsidiary of Concha y Toro, was founded in 1993 to develop innovative, fine wines from Chile, specifically for export markets. In 1996 the winery decided to make its first ultra-premium wine and set apart 20 barrels of its best Pinot Noir. Later, this became the name for this range of wines. This Cabernet-blend has a deep purple-ruby colour and plenty of blackcurrant fruit with overlays of roast coffee, cashew nuts and a hint of meat. Mid-weight, the palate flavours are well-defined and sustained by racy acidity and velvet-textured tannins. A stony mineral accent indicates that this is well-suited to smoky barbecued beef brisket.
