Tasting notes:

A delicious, generous but not overdone style of ripe, sweet Pinot that cool-climate Californian producers have – in my view – perfected. Flavour-wise, that means a mix of tomato concentrate with sweet cherry; a touch of raspberry jam, then a lovely combination of characters from well-judged barrel use, such as toast and chocolate-covered caramel. With fine chalky tannins, there’s a dry finish, but the wine is soft and easy to drink, with a medium-weight mouthfeel. You could cellar this, but it’s lovable now. (Patrick Schmitt MW)
