Tasting notes:
VIK has more than 300 hectares of vines in Millahue (‘Place of Gold’), a sub-zone of Cachapoal Valley. With the peaks of the Andes in the background, the views from the winery looking across the rivers and the vineyards are fantastic. Here Viña VIK produces this flagship Bordeaux blend. Deep ruby-hued, with a hint of garnet showing some maturity, the wine has cassis and plum fruit, with accents of cigar box and coffee beans. Dry but richly fruited, the palate has lively acidity and linen-textured tannins framing the flavours, and violet and allspice notes add complexity. Concentrated and layered, with a lingering finish, the wine is perfect to complement elegant beef tournedos. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
