Tasting notes:
Although best-known for its Heritage Pinotage vineyard, planted by PK Morkel in 1953, Bellevue shows here that the team can produce exceptional Cabernet Franc also. Deep ruby-hued, the wine exhibits fresh red berries and wild cherries overlaid with buttercream and vanilla oak. Sweet-fruited and quite rich, the flavours are balanced by brisk acidity and linen-textured tannins. Complexity comes from lead pencil and peppermint notes and a hint of South African heathland. A superb, elegant wine that will pair nicely with classic beef Wellington. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
