Another stunning wine from Weingut Krispel’s basalt-volcanic soils, this example comes from the Neusetzberg vineyard. A beautiful wine, mid-gold in hue, it displays yellow orchard fruits, smoky-toasty oak and hints of allspice, white pepper, blood orange and tangerine. Just off-dry, the palate is concentrated, showing well defined fruit and spicy oak, balanced by brisk acidity and a waxy texture. Savoury on the finish, this is a wine well-suited to classic Wiener schnitzel, with just enough spice and herbs to add interest to the dish. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
