Tasting notes:
This wine comes from the Wagram area of Niederösterreich, where the Leth family have vineyards on loess soils high in limestone, 20 metres in depth. The terraced vineyards for this wine are at 300m altitude at Brunnthal. Mid-ruby in hue with a garnet rim, the wine expresses cranberry and strawberry fruit, with tobacco overlay and a hint of blackcurrant leaf. Dry, the medium-bodied palate has attractive, floral-accented fruit and smoky oak framed by lively acidity and slightly grainy tannins. A very nice wine to pair with sautéed pigeon breasts served in a red wine sauce. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
