Tasting notes:

Philip Shaw, one of Australia’s older guard of top-class winemakers, produces fantastic red wines sourced from his own vineyards in Koomooloo, located in Orange, New South Wales. Shaw has made this exemplary Merlot from his high-altitude, very cool mesoclimate. Deep ruby in hue with just a hint of garnet on the rim, the wine exhibits vibrant, dark cherry and pomegranate fruit with a smoky oak overlay. Dry and quite full-bodied, the palate has great definition of flavours, supported by lively acidity and grippy tannins. Integrated and complex, the finish shows exotic spice and cedar wood accents. This wine will work very well with dove casseroled with sweet yellow onions and white mushrooms.  (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
