Tasting notes:
The Orlando Steingarten vineyard was dynamited into existence in 1962 on land no-one thought was fit for any sort of agriculture. Despite a seemingly inauspicious site, the rocky terroir of Steingarten, low in nutrients, is perfect for the grapes to produce this delicious example of high altitude Riesling. Pale lemon in hue, the wine has ripe orchard fruits, lemon-lime and orange zest, with a hint of petrol. Dry, the light-bodied, linear-styled palate has zippy acidity and citrus, and a bit of white pepper on the finish. An excellent pairing is a pink-and-white fish on a bed of creamed spinach.
