Tasting notes:

Located on the Niagara Peninsula, along the escarpment overlooking Lake Ontario, Trius was the first producer of Niagara’s iconic icewines. Harvested below -10oC, the grapes are quickly pressed to extract the concentrated juice, leaving the ice crystals behind. In this vintage, Trius has outdone itself, achieving a Master medal from the discriminating judges. The wine is intense and very sweet (196g/l residual sugar) and almost magical. Medium orange-gold in hue, the wine’s sweetness is balanced by almost searing acidity, seamlessly integrated. Very rich, the lush wine displays oranges, apricots and ripe golden apples, with cream and forest honey adding complexity. Unctuous, rich, but so well-balanced that it will be a brilliant match for apricot tart or a foil for Philadelphia cheesecake. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
