Tasting notes:
First produced in 1913, Lumen was the first sparkling wine to be made in Rioja. This is a blanc de noirs – made from Garnacha Tinta – aged for 24 months on the lees, giving a gentle lift of yeast. Very pale silver lime-leaf green with small bubbles and a narrow cordon, the wine exhibits orchard fruits, white cherry and white peach on the nose and palate. Brutstyle, the palate shows brisk acidity, good intensity, nice definition and length, and a pretty crushed rose petal accent. Easy drinking, the wine is delicious as an aperitif or a lovely pairing for Victoria sponge cake at tea time. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
