Tasting notes:

The De Grendel cellar sitsmajestically on the slopes of theTygerberg in the midst of fynbos(mixed vegetation of shrub andsmall heather-like trees), withpanoramic views of Table Mountain andthe city of Cape Town. Sand and slatecombine with glass to create a modernbuilding that references the colonialarchitecture of the main house with itsdeep veranda and arched windows. Thewine, made by Charles Hopkins, MorganSteyn and the winemaking team, isexemplary. Very pale silver lime leafgreenin colour, the aromas and flavoursare focused pear, passion fruit and whitepeach with a creamy nuance. Livelyacidity balances the vibrant flavours.
