Tasting notes:

Viña Montes is indeed pushing the limits with this extraordinary SauvignonBlanc. Zappallar, 125km northwest of Santiago and on the coast, is cool andbreezy from the effects of the cold Pacific Ocean that almost borders thevineyard itself. The resulting wine is very pale lime-green in colour, withvibrant nettle, greengage, green pear and citrus fruit, plus hints of gingerand cinnamon spices. Dry and light-bodied, the palate is textured andshows intriguing additional nuances of jalapeño pepper and saltiness. Areally attractive wine to accompany fresh-from-the-sea grilled tilapia.(Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
