Tasting notes:

Nederburg dates back to 1791,when Philippus Wolvaart acquired49 hectares of land in the Paarl area.Generations of winemakers arepaid tribute as part of Nederburg’sHeritage Heroes range, and the highquality of winegrowing extends down tothe other wines. This example, a worthyGold medal winner, exhibits a very palewhite-gold hue, and gooseberry andgreengage fruit, with notes of smoke andjalapeño in the background. Dry, the lightbodiedpalate is framed by racy acidity,accented by a little peppery spice andfollowing through to a lengthy finish. Thewine will suit steamed globe artichokesaccompanied by a dill-mayonnaise dip,made with a bit of Dijon mustard and awhiff of garlic. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
