Tasting notes:

Founded in 1882 near Haro by Don Felipe Ugalde, Rioja Vega is located about 10km from Logroño, surrounded by 70 hectares of vineyards. This wine comes from two vineyards, one 60 years old and the other 50 years old, and is a tribute to Don Felipe Ugalde and his dream of fine-quality Rioja wine. Midcherry in colour, the wine shows pretty red berry fruits: pomegranate, strawberry and cranberry, overlaid with cigar box notes. Dry, the palate has bright acidity and crushed velvet tannins, giving a plush texture. Elegant and delicious, this wine is a good match for lamb medallions, seared pink, and served with puréed butternut squash with a red wine jus.  (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
