Based in Logroño at the heart of Rioja is Bodegas Campo Viejo, where a multi-sensory experience awaits at its newest winery, completed in 2001. This wine is a superb example, coming from the bodega’s commitment to ecological sustainability at an affordable price. Mid ruby in colour, the wine is packed with red berry fruit, accented with a little creaminess. Dry, sweet-fruited and juicy, the mid-weight palate is underpinned by lively acidity and linen tannins. Hints of cinnamon and allspice add interest. This is a good match for red peppers stuffed with bulgar wheat. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
