Tasting notes:

Vinovalie was established in 2006 as a group of four co-operatives (Côtesd’Olt, Fronton, Rabastens and Técou) and comprises more than 300 vigneronswith passion for their vineyards and the grape varieties embedded insouthwest France. Nowadays Vinovalie’s biodiversity goes beyond thevineyards to encompass the winery, the people and their wellbeing, as well asthe carbon footprint. This wine, from Comté Tolosan, an IGP, is a lovelyexpression of subtly-oaked Malbec from this region. Deep ruby in colour with a hint ofgarnet on the rim, the wine has vibrant griotte, morello cherry and blackberry fruitoverlaid with plenty of toasty oak and an attractive eucalyptus hint. Dry, the wine ismid-weight and the attractive flavours support brisk acidity and sturdy tannins. Nicelyintegrated, the wine will match rôtisserie chicken, marinated with 14 spices, a recipeoriginating in Réunion. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
