Tasting notes:

Owned since 2000 by Frescobaldi,the Attems property west of Goriziahas a long, venerated history firstmentioned in 1106. The Cicinisvineyard for Sauvignon Blanc is atthe highest altitude of the estate andis the coolest area. The soil, ponca, is asandstone alternating with layers of marl,particularly friable and well-suited to thisvariety. The wine is stellar: pale lemonyellowin colour, with yellow plums,peaches, pears and green apple, andsubtle nutmeg and cinnamon in thebackground. Dry, the mid-weight palate isconcentrated, textured and nicelyintegrated, with brisk acidity providingbackbone. Really attractive, the wine is agood match for seared skate cheeks in awhite mushroom cream sauce.(Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
