If you are in search of a serious,structured and impressive Malbecfrom Mendoza, then this won’tdisappoint. Deeply-coloured, andrichly-flavoured it certainly is, butthere’s also this upright character to thewine, giving it a vertical and noble nature;the sort that makes one take note, andwant to sip it slowly – or indeed cellar it.So, while there’s plenty of blackberry jamand sweet cherry, there’s also a firmer sideto the wine, with notes of fresh apple,coconut husk and cedar wood, along witha touch of chilli flake. The finish featuresa wall of dense tannin, giving the wine afinely-pixelated feel as it passes over thetongue. Strong like a gymnast, rather thana body builder. (Patrick Schmitt MW)
