Tasting notes:

Expectations always run high with Bruce Jack Wines, and it was pleasing to see that one of our top scorers sub-£20 was this deliciously drinkable Syrah. A complex wine, made from mostly Shiraz, but complemented by a touch of Grenache and Touriga Nacional, it features a mix of almost jammy red berries, with notes of plum and cherry too, along with smoky notes, and a cedar-like, cigar box character. Not too heavy, with a medium-weight, fleshy mouthfeel, and a dry, finely-tannic finish – without any alcohol warmth, despite the sweet, ripe fruit. (Patrick Schmitt MW)
