Tasting notes:

Among the world’s great sources of fine Syrah is New Zealand’s Hawke’s Bay, in particular the Gimblett Gravels area. And this ultimate expression called Homage from Trinity Hill is at the very pinnacle of what’s possible in the place, showcasing the wonderful balance that can be achieved between ripe fruit and fresh, spicy characters. So, while there’s some sweet plums and soft black berries, along with red cherry, there’s also a note of tapenade, green peppercorn and a medium-weight mouthfeel, complemented by some bright acidity and bitter chocolate. Intensely flavoured, but a far from heavy example of great Syrah. (Patrick Schmitt MW)
