Casa Silva is a name conjuring upa traditional Chilean lifestyle,evident from the extensiveequestrian facilities developed atthe Angostura Estate. Theseinclude a polo pitch, home of theCasa Silva polo team, and rodeostadium for huaso cowboys, allsurrounded by vineyards, with ahotel and restaurant, and the Andes as abackdrop. The wine shows a deep rubypurplehue with red berry fruit andpomegranates accented by mint,chocolate and violets. Very pretty, thepalate has lively acidity and silky tanninswith layers of flavour and intriguingspices. A good match is slow-roast lambwith fennel, sage, onion and merguezstuffing, and pistachio, olive, mint andparsley sauce. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
