Tasting notes:

The Port crisis of the 1980s led to the establishment of Alves de Sousa, a longtimesupplier of grapes and wines to Casa Ferreirinha and the Sociedade dosVinhos Burgos, to develop this Quinta da Gaivosa Port, the earliest of its quintawines. Deep ruby-purple in colour, it displays blackberry, bramble and morellocherry, accented by smoky oak. Medium-sweet, the full-bodied palate has alovely structure of crisp acidity and sturdy tannins underpinning abundantflavours. With hints of allspice and nutmeg, this wine will be a good match forchocolate crêpes. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
