Tasting notes:
“Everyone makes Sangiovese; we make Prugneto.” Valerio Ravaioli, the third generation of growers, created this strapline and label in the 1960s. Fabio and Celita, Valerio’s son and daughter, continue to produce top-class wines in this little pocket of rolling vineyards on the hills of Forlì, about 175m above the Adriatic coast. The wine, from a single vineyard, is delightful: mid-ruby in hue and with blackberry, cherry and dried cranberry fruit, with milk chocolate and vanilla oak notes. The mid-weight palate flavours are framed by crisp acidity and dense, savoury tannins. Good concentration and length. This wine will pair with spicy sausage and tomato sauce on spaghetti.
