Tasting notes:
Schild Estate hand-crafts wines from the southern area of the Barossa Valley, where altitudes are higher and temperatures slightly cooler. So the wines are a little more delicate and balanced. This wine comes from a vineyard first planted by Ann Jacobs in 1847 between Jacob’s Creek and the North Para River. The name ‘Moorooroo’ means ‘meeting of two rivers’. Almost opaque purple-black in colour, the wine has ripe morello cherry and bramble fruit with dark chocolate and smoky oak, and an orange zest overlay. Rich and full, the palate is packed with flavour, balanced by racy acidity and linen-textured tannins. Intense and absolutely delicious, the wine has a lingering finish, with accents of violet and balsamic. An excellent match for roast grouse with bacon and butter rub accompanied by watercress salad dressed with walnut oil and red wine vinegar. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
