Launched in 2022 with the 2019 vintage,Yettalil is the ultimate expression fromClos du Val, named in memory ofwinery owner Olav Goelet’s grandmotherHenrietta, who was known affectionatelyas Yettalil. Using almost the full gamut ofBordeaux varieties from Napa’s greatStags Leap District, this is an excitingaddition to the world of fine Cabernetdominantblends. Tasted blind in Aprilthis year, this 2021 vintage wowed for itsintense colour, aroma and palate, withcharacters ranging from cassis toraspberry and dark cherry, then bay leafand plum, followed by creamy chocolate,vanilla and toast. While the core is richand ripe, the finish is fresh and dry, with alingering note of cedar, as well as dense,mouth-coating tannins to make yousalivate. Delicious now, with a long lifeahead of it.
