Tasting notes:

Pewën de Apalta is Viña Santa Rita’s icon Carmenere, coming from thesmall terroir of Apalta in the Colchagua Valley, where some of theCarmenere vines date from 1938. This wine, clearly one of the leadingwines from Chile, is vibrant ruby purple-coloured and displays plentyof blackberry and bramble fruit, heightened by dark chocolate, roastedcoffee beans and vanilla pod. The sweet-fruited, full-bodied palate hasconcentrated flavours supported by lively acidity and dense, velvettexturedtannins. Rich and lingering, this is a wine for seared venisonwith a side of baked polenta. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
