A lovely example of why Burgundy’s wine producers are increasinglylooking to Mercurey for making fine Pinot Noir, this expression from MaisonAlbert Sounit is a gem. Youthful, lively and drinking wonderfully now, thereis plenty of red cherry fruit and wild strawberry intensity, married to notes ofcedar, chocolate and toast, along with a spicy, white pepper finish, with fine,dry tannins and a touch of orange zest. Yes it’s age-worthy, but also a lipsmackingdrop for drinking now. (Patrick Schmitt MW)
