Among the great reds from the brilliant, biodynamic, Minervois-based Château Maris is this delicious, powerful white made from Grenache Gris. While not hugely expressive on the nose, it has real depth and character on the palate, with notes of lemon meringue, ripe pear, nuts and vanilla, and then, despite an oily mouthfeel, a surprising finish that’s dry, zesty and toasty.
