Stoneleigh is committed to sustainable farming. One of the initiatives the producer supports is the Marlborough Falcon Conservation Trust. And, with more than 10,000 plants and beehives dotted around the vineyards to support biodiversity, Stoneleigh is a leader for the New Zealand’s ‘green’ movement. This wine, fully organic and vegan, comes from the well-drained stony soils in Wairau Valley. Pale lemon-yellow in hue, the wine exhibits apple, pear and mango fruit, gentle vanilla pod notes and a creamy lees accent. Mid-weight, the palate is nicely balanced, showing lively acidity and excellent integration of flavour and texture with notes of tangerine zest and toasted cashews adding interest. A pairing with a Thai inspired sauce is sure to be a success. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
