It was surprising to find that one of the best unoaked Pinots of 2024 wasfrom Portugal. While the country certainly isn’t known for Pinot Noir, thisexpression from Dão is delicious and relatively affordable. Rich in typicalPinot flavours, from soft ripe red berry fruit to sweet tomato, there’s also afine, firm tannic structure and fresh and dry, slightly chalky-tasting finish. Agood, juicy, structured pale red with Pinot’s typical combination of sweetfruit and a light body. (Patrick Schmitt MW)
