Marimar’s Pinots are consistent top performers in our Masters competitions, andthis maturing example from the 2018 vintage is another class act from this firstrateCalifornian producer. Named after Marimar’s only daughter, Cristina, andusing fruit from the coolest area of the Russian River Valley, it’s a fine, quite lightand lively Pinot that proves that this part of world can yield delicate reds.Flavours range from orange and raspberry to plums and cherry, complemented bynotes of toast and dark chocolate, with a lovely, refreshing finish, and a dry edge,helped by a fine tannic structure.
