Established in Ankara in 1929, Kavaklidere is owned by the fourth generation of the family. Kavaklidere offers a wide range of wines from Turkey’s indigenous varieties and – nowadays – from international varieties too. This wine comes from vineyards at its Pendore winery in the Aegean region and offers a lovely expression of gently oaked Cabernet Franc blended with Merlot. Deep-ruby coloured with a garnet rim, the wine shows bright cassis and Victoria plum with floral overlay and vanilla pod accent. The palate is mid-weight with crisp acidity and linen tannins supporting the nicely defined flavours. An absolute bargain, perfect with simple roast chicken.(Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
