Tasting notes:

Wakefield – known as Taylors in Australia – has a long history in SouthAustralia, and this delicious Merlot, at an unbelievably affordable price, is agreat ambassador. Showing a deep ruby-black colour, the wine hasblackberries and dark plums with hints of Christmas cake and a delectablehint of mint so typical of Clare Valley reds. The palate has a crushed, softberry and gently oaky core balanced by lively acidity and ample, satintexturedtannins. Savoury on the finish, the wine will match nicely withdelicately-spiced Indian dishes, or simple cottage pie, but it would also be justfine with grilled kidneys in a mustard-Madeira sauce.
