Montelvini brings innovation to Wine Paris

Though rooted in Asolo, one of Prosecco’s most prestigious terroirs, Montelvini is emphasising its innovative, forward-looking products at Wine Paris.

Winemakers in Asolo Prosecco DOCG do not have to look far for history. The town from which the appellation gets its name is steeped in culture and currently exploring a bid for Unesco World Heritage status. The local producers, meanwhile, have farmed grapes on the region’s hills for centuries, and worked to earn the sub-region’s reputation as one of the best spots for high-quality Prosecco.

At its stand at Wine Paris (Hall 5.2, Stand F287), however, family producer Montelvini is focusing on the future as well as its rich history. While 140 years of winemaking is the foundation of its range, this year it is particularly highlighting its most innovative products.

Alongside our core range,” explains Alberto Serena, CEO of Montelvini, “the tasting experience will highlight Montelvini’s innovative projects, including Montelvini 0% Alcohol Free Sparkling, low-alcohol wines such as Prodry Low 8%, Monvin wines on tap, developed with a sustainable approach, and ready-to-drink Spritz available both in bottles and on tap — all designed to meet new consumption trends and the rapidly evolving needs of the Horeca (hotel, restaurant and catering) channel.”

In particular, the focus on no and low alcohol products recognises a need to attend to the needs of Gen Z consumers, who are conscious of balancing enjoyment with responsible consumption.

Montelvini 0% Alcohol Free Sparkling uses a blend of premium white grapes, including the aromatic varieties for which northern Italy is well known, to make a base wine. The alcohol is then very gently removed in a spinning cone column, at low temperatures and under a vacuum. This preserves as much of the delicate aromatic profile as possible, before the addition of carbon dioxide to attain its fine perlage.

It is not just the lack of alcohol that commends the sparkling to mindful drinking. There is no added sugar in the product, meaning it sits at 3.4g/l. The wine is also vegan and packaged in a lightweight bottle, putting the environment and animal welfare at the heart of the process.

Pitched as an elegant option for a toast, the wine is also recommended for pairing with seafood dishes, soft cheeses or lightly spiced dishes, thanks to its refined floral notes and subtle minerality.

A complete collection

Wine Paris is not solely a showcase for innovation, of course. The Montelvini team attending is keen to meet new and existing partners, as well as showcasing its full range of award-winning wines.

“It is a strategic opportunity to communicate our identity, strengthen existing relationships and develop new ones, while showcasing our portfolio within a highly prestigious global setting,” says Serena.

Alongside its forward-looking innovative products, Montelvini will showcase its core range, spanning a range of appellations and styles.

Montelvini is, of course, a proud ambassador for Asolo Prosecco DOCG. These sparkling wines will be front and centre, especially its Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG wines, which demonstrate the concentration and finesse yielded by Glera when grown on the south facing slopes.

The producer is also in the rare position of producing both fine sparkling wines and fine red wines. Montello DOCG yields powerful reds made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Carmenere.

With a wide range of wines to sample, Montelvini is aiming for Wine Paris to be a key showcase for its comprehensive selection of the region’s wines. Whether buyers are looking for innovative offerings to capture younger demographics or classic styles rooted in historic terroirs, Montelvini is continuing its mission to be a prime ambassador for the Asolo region.
